He feels like Travis Lee to me.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

#4@Tom Waits: I don't mind the Padres drafting a big bat LFer ... and that might be what Ike Davis is ... my guess is that Ike Davis is enough of a big bat that he won't be available at #23. There's room in the org for any big bat ... but I guess those aren't available at #23 ... unless you're lucky ...

One can never have too much pitching ...
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

#5@Tom Waits: Yeah thats kind of what I thought. Would it be a bit of a stretch to pick him in the first round?

With Greenie hitting FA in 09 and the teams unwillingness to pay FA market value I would think that the Pads would have to be looking at a college shortstop with a high pick this year.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

#2@Steve C: Hard to say. He seems like he'll make it to the supplemental round, but will he make it to Pick 42 or 46?
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

#1@Melvin Nieves: Yeah. BA thinks Davis can play the OF, but that says LF to me, which is even less a position of need than 1b. Kyle Russell (RF) and Jordan Danks (CF) of Texas have had down years, but they're both true outfielders who were highly regarded before this season. Russell is often compared to Adam Dunn but with much superior defense. Danks might move to RF in the pros, but that's partly because his arm is so good and that wouldn't be bad in CF. His bat is a question mark, though.

Among pitcher, Tanner Scheppers could be a huge value if he'd sign for slot and if the Padres think the stress fracture in his shoulder is no biggie. There are some other college arms that have dropped out of BA's Top 30 that might tempt us, too. Brett Hunter has big-time stuff but might be best suited to relief. If Joshua Fields drops to us, I wouldn't be surprised to see him picked.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

Do you guys think Brandon Crawford SS (UCLA) will still be around when the padres pick in the supplemental rounds?
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

You have to figure there's no way to predict with much accuracy what will happen all the way down at 23.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)
