San Diego looks to take the series against the defending National League champion Rockies…
Edgar Gonzalez is starting for the Diamondbacks today.
The Padres are trying to win consecutive games for the first time since April 15.
Rockies starter Greg Reynolds is making his major league debut.
Glad to see we won’t have to see Joe West behind the plate this homestand.
SAN DIEGO (AP) – The San Diego Padres acquired right-handed reliever Bryan Corey from the Boston Red Sox on Sunday for a player to be named or cash.
To make room on the roster, the Padres optioned left-hander Joe Thatcher to Triple-A Portland.
#6@Kevin: I think that was a good move.
It almost looked like Adrian had gotten all of that.
#7@Turbine Dude: Best move ever.
#9@Kevin: I wish him well with the Beavers and would like to see him brought back up in the future.
Mark Grant is such an idiot.
#11@Turbine Dude: Yeah….but he’s a funny idiot and it makes baseball fun to watch and he’s having a good time.
Gerut is really hitting the ball hard this weekend…..nothing to show for it…but he has been hitting it hard.
#11@Turbine Dude: I love Mark…he cracks me up.
CY is cruising. we need some runs gang. I’ve been out of the loop for a couple days. Did Rusch get a pink slip?
Atta boy Shrek…A shot to the corner…Pads up by 1.
#15@Jefe: There’s your run. Nice shot Scotty!
Shrek hit that one hard…..
#15@Jefe: Updated May. 10: Padres sent LHP Glendon Rusch outright to Triple-A Portland. The Padres’ still have filled their quots for old, formerly mediocre lefties with Shawn Estes up. Rusch, who goes to make room for Sean Henn, had a 6.41 ERA in 19 2/3 innings as a reliever.
#19@Coronado Mike: Thanks Mike
wow…we threw out a runner trying to steal….
Carlin just threw out his first runner in the bigs. Nice.
nice bunt goooch..
I didn’t see that coming! Gooch!
Who says we don’t have speed?!
A bunt hit for Iggy
we have more speed now with Gerut in the lineup
The bunt worked for Gooch. Way to go Agone!
Well, we do have a hitter…Way to come through AGon
Greene’s bat finally wakes up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
KG hit one!
Wow…
Shrek looking for another homer.
Whoa. Am I tuning into the Padres game or did I hit the wrong button? Maybe I’m having some strange form of dyslexia when I see that bigger number next to the Padres rather than the Rockies.
This could ugly real quick!
Great, they are bringing in one of my all time favorite style pitchers. Ug.
33, 34: Guys, Meredith has been pretty good recently.
I’m happy for Cla there. Still doesn’t change my thinking on side arm pitching.
#35@Richard D.: It’s “guy,” singular. TD is the only poster I know of who gets the willies when The Claw appears.
That’s about the best you can do in that situation. It looked like CY got squeezed on GameDay during the Spillborgs a-b.
That ball was smoked at Spiers’ back!!!
Thanks Tom.
that had to hurt…he will really feel that on Monday morning…
And way to go 1st to 3rd Gerut!!!
Gooch is safe by a leap!
Bases loaded and one out. Here’s where they usually f*ck this up.
#37@Tom Waits: Point taken. I agree, Cla gets big “up’s” for wiggling out of that jam.
One of our best hitters stikes out with bases loaded. That’s why they don’t win games.
Kouz!!!!
Am I hoping too much to ask for a Grand Slam here?
Nice work by Bell this inning.
#36@Turbine Dude: Sidearms and submariners usually have great control and keep the ball low.
Germano, Estes or Hene in the ninth?
Luke just got his 1st hit in the Show! And a double at that! Great
#48@Kevin: I was a Destroyer sailor. We used big guns, not sidearms.
