Edgar Gonzalez is starting for the Diamondbacks today.
May 11, 2008 at 12:54 pm
The Padres are trying to win consecutive games for the first time since April 15.
May 11, 2008 at 1:02 pm
Rockies starter Greg Reynolds is making his major league debut.
May 11, 2008 at 1:14 pm
Glad to see we won’t have to see Joe West behind the plate this homestand.
May 11, 2008 at 1:21 pm
SAN DIEGO (AP) – The San Diego Padres acquired right-handed reliever Bryan Corey from the Boston Red Sox on Sunday for a player to be named or cash.
May 11, 2008 at 1:22 pm
To make room on the roster, the Padres optioned left-hander Joe Thatcher to Triple-A Portland.
May 11, 2008 at 1:24 pm
#6@Kevin: I think that was a good move.
May 11, 2008 at 1:26 pm
It almost looked like Adrian had gotten all of that.
May 11, 2008 at 1:33 pm
#7@Turbine Dude: Best move ever.
May 11, 2008 at 1:37 pm
#9@Kevin: I wish him well with the Beavers and would like to see him brought back up in the future.
May 11, 2008 at 1:43 pm
Mark Grant is such an idiot.
May 11, 2008 at 1:46 pm
#11@Turbine Dude: Yeah….but he’s a funny idiot and it makes baseball fun to watch and he’s having a good time.
May 11, 2008 at 1:51 pm
Gerut is really hitting the ball hard this weekend…..nothing to show for it…but he has been hitting it hard.
May 11, 2008 at 1:52 pm
#11@Turbine Dude: I love Mark…he cracks me up.
May 11, 2008 at 2:09 pm
CY is cruising. we need some runs gang. I’ve been out of the loop for a couple days. Did Rusch get a pink slip?
May 11, 2008 at 2:16 pm
Atta boy Shrek…A shot to the corner…Pads up by 1.
May 11, 2008 at 2:16 pm
#15@Jefe: There’s your run. Nice shot Scotty!
May 11, 2008 at 2:17 pm
Shrek hit that one hard…..
May 11, 2008 at 2:19 pm
#15@Jefe: Updated May. 10: Padres sent LHP Glendon Rusch outright to Triple-A Portland. The Padres’ still have filled their quots for old, formerly mediocre lefties with Shawn Estes up. Rusch, who goes to make room for Sean Henn, had a 6.41 ERA in 19 2/3 innings as a reliever.
May 11, 2008 at 2:26 pm
#19@Coronado Mike: Thanks Mike
May 11, 2008 at 2:27 pm
wow…we threw out a runner trying to steal….
May 11, 2008 at 2:27 pm
Carlin just threw out his first runner in the bigs. Nice.
May 11, 2008 at 2:30 pm
nice bunt goooch..
May 11, 2008 at 2:30 pm
I didn’t see that coming! Gooch!
May 11, 2008 at 2:31 pm
Who says we don’t have speed?!
A bunt hit for Iggy
May 11, 2008 at 2:31 pm
we have more speed now with Gerut in the lineup
May 11, 2008 at 2:38 pm
The bunt worked for Gooch. Way to go Agone!
May 11, 2008 at 2:39 pm
Well, we do have a hitter…Way to come through AGon
May 11, 2008 at 2:43 pm
Greene’s bat finally wakes up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
May 11, 2008 at 2:43 pm
KG hit one!
Wow…
May 11, 2008 at 2:44 pm
Shrek looking for another homer.
May 11, 2008 at 2:57 pm
Whoa. Am I tuning into the Padres game or did I hit the wrong button? Maybe I’m having some strange form of dyslexia when I see that bigger number next to the Padres rather than the Rockies.
May 11, 2008 at 2:59 pm
This could ugly real quick!
May 11, 2008 at 3:00 pm
Great, they are bringing in one of my all time favorite style pitchers. Ug.
May 11, 2008 at 3:04 pm
33, 34: Guys, Meredith has been pretty good recently.
May 11, 2008 at 3:05 pm
I’m happy for Cla there. Still doesn’t change my thinking on side arm pitching.
May 11, 2008 at 3:08 pm
#35@Richard D.: It’s “guy,” singular. TD is the only poster I know of who gets the willies when The Claw appears.
That’s about the best you can do in that situation. It looked like CY got squeezed on GameDay during the Spillborgs a-b.
May 11, 2008 at 3:10 pm
That ball was smoked at Spiers’ back!!!
May 11, 2008 at 3:11 pm
Thanks Tom.
May 11, 2008 at 3:14 pm
that had to hurt…he will really feel that on Monday morning…
And way to go 1st to 3rd Gerut!!!
May 11, 2008 at 3:16 pm
Gooch is safe by a leap!
May 11, 2008 at 3:17 pm
Bases loaded and one out. Here’s where they usually f*ck this up.
May 11, 2008 at 3:18 pm
#37@Tom Waits: Point taken. I agree, Cla gets big “up’s” for wiggling out of that jam.
May 11, 2008 at 3:19 pm
One of our best hitters stikes out with bases loaded. That’s why they don’t win games.
May 11, 2008 at 3:21 pm
Kouz!!!!
May 11, 2008 at 3:22 pm
Am I hoping too much to ask for a Grand Slam here?
May 11, 2008 at 3:32 pm
Nice work by Bell this inning.
May 11, 2008 at 3:34 pm
#36@Turbine Dude: Sidearms and submariners usually have great control and keep the ball low.
May 11, 2008 at 3:39 pm
Germano, Estes or Hene in the ninth?
May 11, 2008 at 3:41 pm
Luke just got his 1st hit in the Show! And a double at that! Great
#48@Kevin: I was a Destroyer sailor. We used big guns, not sidearms.
May 11, 2008 at 3:41 pm
Isn’t Estes starting this week…Wednesday?
May 11, 2008 at 3:44 pm
We may actually be looking a two wins in a row. I’m dumbfounded and almost (almost) speechless.
May 11, 2008 at 3:45 pm
GOOOCH!!!!!!!!!!
May 11, 2008 at 3:45 pm
Good Lord, I can’t get over the grill on Corey. I feel bad for even mentioning it but damn!
May 11, 2008 at 3:45 pm
are we allowed to win 2 in a row?
May 11, 2008 at 3:46 pm
A veritable cornucopia of run scoring today….
Just wanted to use big words.
May 11, 2008 at 3:47 pm
#54@Jeremy: I did not get a good look…is he a back-up catcher on the all-ugly team?
May 11, 2008 at 3:50 pm
#56@Coronado Mike:
Kudos on the vocabulary
This game is such a pleasant Sunday shock. I am drinking out of happiness as opposed to trying to escape reality this time.
May 11, 2008 at 3:50 pm
#57@Coronado Mike:
The reliever we picked up from Boston today. He is coming in now. You will see the chompers.
May 11, 2008 at 3:52 pm
Allow my exhuberance to get the best of me ~ I want Carlin in the lineup tomorrow as well.
May 11, 2008 at 3:53 pm
#56@Coronado Mike: So far we have experienced an inexplicable showing of honorific placement of harbivorous by-product into stitched bovine pelt spheres not seen in some time.
May 11, 2008 at 3:54 pm
#59@Jeremy: Corey looks like a pirahna.
May 11, 2008 at 3:56 pm
#62@Turbine Dude:
Yes, like Matt Dillon in “There’s Something About Mary”.
May 11, 2008 at 3:57 pm
I forgot what it feels like to not have to play the bottom of the 9th. This is going to be strange.
May 11, 2008 at 3:57 pm
Two strikes away from a 2nd win…
May 11, 2008 at 3:58 pm
Make that one!
May 11, 2008 at 3:59 pm
Doh.
Well, Spilborg is 0-2 today…
May 11, 2008 at 3:59 pm
’stros getting to Broxton (is he done?), now up on Dogs 6-3 in top of 8th.
May 11, 2008 at 4:00 pm
Woohoo! Nice play Gooch!
May 11, 2008 at 4:00 pm
Holy ****! We won another game!!!!!!!!!!
May 11, 2008 at 4:01 pm
2 in a row!!!!!!
World Series here we COMEEEEEEEEEEE!
(A little too much enthusiasm, you say? Nahhhhh…)
May 11, 2008 at 4:04 pm
How bout that…2 wins in a row…only one we lost was the one that I was at Friday night
May 11, 2008 at 4:05 pm

May 11, 2008 at 4:10 pm
#72@Mark O: Don’t go to anymore games!
May 11, 2008 at 4:24 pm
#35@Richard D.: Try “has been good the entire time he’s been a Padre.”
May 11, 2008 at 4:50 pm
Crabbe DFA’d
May 11, 2008 at 5:48 pm
Carlin started the day game after catching Saturday night’s game because Josh Bard got an injection in his surgically repaired right wrist. Black said Bard is expected back Monday night in Chicago.
May 11, 2008 at 5:58 pm
#76@Rich Campbell: for whom, I wonder?
May 11, 2008 at 6:04 pm
#76@Rich Campbell: Where is that info?
