#38@Kevin: This was actually a slick move by Black. By sending Wolf out to start the inning, he forced the Reds to burn a pinch-hitter. The pitcher's spot was due to lead off, but right-handed hitting David Ross came off the bench to bat. Then Black brought in Mike Adams, and Cincy countered by sending Scott Hatteberg up in place of Ross.

Just got back from the game and a bit of bar tab. Hick!

Wow. What a night? Didn’t start well, actually. We hit the pub and I had two beers before first pitch – a first. We looked at the drizzles outside and I mentioned that balls aren’t leaving the park tonight. Boy, was I wrong. Really glad, I had those beers by the time Griffey hit one out to the beach. Got another beer and yup, mopped a little. The thing was even with the 2 run HR given up by Wolf, he was pitching well and the Padres were working the count on Harang. My friend ended up saying Harang was being harangued by the Padres. Tee..hee…hee….

Man, the place rocked when Iguchi stole that base and ended up at 3rd only to be driven in by OG. The crowd exploded with roars at El Hombre’s HR. Wow.
Am I glad I was wrong about the balls leaving the park. And then Mike Adams came in to shut the door. That was about as much fun as I had in the ballpark and all things considered, it was a great night for Padres fans.

Whew! Must go to sleep now. Hick!

Antonelli sure draws a lot of walks. Even on the 0-fer nights he still seems to at least get a free pass.

One has to wonder if maybe he should be a little more agressive early in the count.

Sorry LynchMob — the call ups from Portland surprised me a bit, correct me if I’m wrong but is it safe to say that none of the three : Adams, Wells or Banks knew it was coming. None of them have been lights out or anything close to major league level efficiency but oh well, why not ? One guy who does intrigue me a bit now on that Portland roster is Edwin Moreno, so I am kind of tracking him now.
