How is Redman only 34 years old? More importantly, how is he in the rotation of a team that played in the World Series six months ago?
#8 — Yes, Rusch must go. All he did tonight was serve up meatballs.

#99@Geoff Young:Though a definite non prospect, Carlin would not embarrass himself getting a spot start every two weeks or so at the major league level. He is a good defensive catcher as well. My point is, why have Colt Morton or Nick Hundley here in San Diego simply to sit and not play….Carlin might be a better 1 month stop gap…
#103@JP: He might be, but then again he might not be. I’ll defer to the Padres’ judgment on this one.
#103@JP: If Morton is a good defender and a better hitter than Carlin, and the team sees him as a future backup anyway, I’d rather have the better player on the major league club. Baseball being what it is, Morton could go 0-12 the next four weeks while Carlin might run into 3 doubles and a HR, but I’m not all that fussed about 26 year old Colt missing reps.
#105@Tom Waits: Understood. Wonder what the danger will be of Bard wearing down. With Barrett down, Bard seems to be getting every start. I’d imagine that Colt Morton will be getting a start here shortly.
Is the 6’5 Morton known as a good defensive catcher ? If not, how much value can he bring as an offensive player at this level when he has only had about 450 at bats minor league at bats in the last 3 full A & AA seasons (only 145 at bats last year, mostly at AA).
#106@JP: From the DS 2008 Annual:
There’s other good stuff in there, too.
#107@Geoff Young: Gotcha. Thanks. Need and will buy your publication once the school year is over
