Wow that was wierd. This wasn’t here 10 seconds ago. Then I hit refresh and BAM, here it is. Should be fun to see Cesar Ramos throw. I can’t wait for the boys to get home, I need to know that they are safe from communism.
March 15, 2008 at 8:57 pm
After that blow up in Tibet, I am a little suprised they didn’t jump on the plane and come straight home.
March 15, 2008 at 9:52 pm
What the hell is on Channel 4?
March 15, 2008 at 10:04 pm
I’m still wondering what the Chinese think about a tie ball game. They were probably like WTF?
March 15, 2008 at 10:06 pm
4: Wrong! With Communism, everyone wins!
March 15, 2008 at 10:07 pm
This is an interesting lineup. Stansberry at SS, Adrian at DH, Blanks at 1B? Whoa.
March 15, 2008 at 10:07 pm
Robby, you are a good comrade.
March 15, 2008 at 10:08 pm
7: I try, I really do.
March 15, 2008 at 10:11 pm
Ugly AB by Hairston.
March 15, 2008 at 10:12 pm
That didn’t look like it hurt. But, as a former catcher I can assure you he felt a bell ring.
March 15, 2008 at 10:12 pm
Hairston has been studying Greene.

March 15, 2008 at 10:19 pm
Why sacrifice to 2nd?
March 15, 2008 at 10:24 pm
16: Because Joe Torre is a douche?
March 15, 2008 at 10:25 pm
Torre is working the model for scoring on the Padres: single, sac, stolen base, sac.
March 15, 2008 at 10:26 pm
Robby, I have a lot of respect for Joe Torre for thumbing his nose at Geo. Stienbrenner.
March 15, 2008 at 10:26 pm
Hey 1B Ump, stop sucking.
March 15, 2008 at 10:28 pm
19: I have no respect for Torre. He’s probably the most over-rated manager in recent memory. I could have won a WS with the talent the Yanks have had the past 10 years.
March 15, 2008 at 10:28 pm
I hope Blanks makes it. Baseball needs a dude that big.
March 15, 2008 at 10:29 pm
22: David Ortiz is Blanks’ size, no?
March 15, 2008 at 10:29 pm
Robby, I mean that as a person, not as a manager.
March 15, 2008 at 10:30 pm
24: Fair enough. I just am “meh” about him.
March 15, 2008 at 10:33 pm
#23: Not quite…
Ortiz: 6′4″, 230 lbs
Blanks: 6′6″, 270 lbs (and that’s conservative)
March 15, 2008 at 10:34 pm
26: Touche salesman.
March 15, 2008 at 10:40 pm
Knock for Lobaton.
FYI Geoff, I started my internship with the Mavs today. Mavericks Stadium is eerily similar to the Diamond. One of the Mavs guys actually told me that they used the same architect for both stadiums, but that he used the lessons he learned from High Desert to make LE’s venue that much better.
March 15, 2008 at 10:45 pm
#28: Cool. I like the “sky boxes” at High Desert. Is that little joint with the scary chili still across the parking lot?
March 15, 2008 at 10:47 pm
29: Bravo Burger?
Also, the Sky Boxes almost made me laugh. On the seating chart, they actually look interesting. Come to find they’re stone-protected booths.
March 15, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Shorter Matt Vasgersian: Shut up, Mark.
March 15, 2008 at 10:49 pm
30: It’s going to be a real interesting season. I think I’m going to have a lot of fun, but I don’t think it’s going to end up being a viable career move.
I have also promised to support the Mavs in any contest over the Storm.
March 15, 2008 at 10:51 pm
Yeah, Bravo Burger. That’s the place.
Here’s a photo of the sky boxes from my trip up there in May 2004:
http://ducksnorts.com/blog/200.....se-ii.html
Hey, wow, I actually noted the similarities between Maverick Stadium and the Diamond at Elsinore.
March 15, 2008 at 10:53 pm
#32: I guarantee it’ll be fun. I was talking to a guy who played in the Cal League several years ago. He spoke lovingly of High Desert: “I’d pop a ball up to shortstop and it’d be a home run.”
March 15, 2008 at 10:58 pm
33: That’s awesome! I don’t think we’re going to have the message board working this year. They put the chances of that at under 50%.
It was really interesting today, as I got to sit in on their meeting today where they decided who they were going to hire to staff the stadium this season. Very interesting to see what positions are available and which skills they value in each position.
All in all, I think I’m going to learn a lot of the ins and outs about running a baseball team. Not sure if I’ll get to know players, but I don’t really care about that. Hopefully I can watch some great games and learn a bit about the business.

March 15, 2008 at 11:04 pm
Antonelli was frightened by the extreme close-up on Kouz.
March 15, 2008 at 11:04 pm
Yikes. Antonelli has 2 GIDP today.
March 15, 2008 at 11:06 pm
34: It has got to suck beyond belief to pitch there. It snowed today, just to give you an idea of the altitude effect.
Added to the thin air is that it’s got relatively small dimensions. It’s 320 down the lines and only 415 to right-cernter (deepest part of the park).
March 15, 2008 at 11:10 pm
Someone needs to tell Joe Torre to stop sacrificing.
March 15, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Damn, given that lead-in by Matt, I was hoping for a DS reference.
March 15, 2008 at 11:16 pm
#45: LOL. No Chinese version of Ducksnorts.
March 15, 2008 at 11:23 pm
#46: There we go. Thank you, Matt!
March 15, 2008 at 11:23 pm
Matty just gave DS a jolt!!!!

There’s nothing better than Blogosphere love for our Web sites.
Nice work Lobaton! Go Pads!
See, DS is good luck!

March 15, 2008 at 11:30 pm
Nice love for GLB, too. Hooray for everyone!
Speaking of TV, I’ll be on NBC 7/39’s “Sportswrap” a week from tomorrow (i.e., Mar 23). Show starts @ 11:35 p.m., not sure what time I’ll be on.
March 15, 2008 at 11:30 pm
57: You’ll have to get a vidcap of it to put up on YouTube for those of us who aren’t local.
Go Geoff! Sell that book!
March 15, 2008 at 11:39 pm
That’s cool GY. Can you put the vid on the DS site?
March 15, 2008 at 11:40 pm
Nice job by Lobaton to stay with that ball and make a strong throw to second.
March 15, 2008 at 11:43 pm
GY, I just left a message on your cell phone.
March 15, 2008 at 11:47 pm
This is entertaining at the least.
March 15, 2008 at 11:52 pm
OK, that was funny.
March 16, 2008 at 12:04 am
Am I the only one left in here?
March 16, 2008 at 12:17 am
Bad News Bears join the LA club. LOL
March 16, 2008 at 12:26 am
Ugh. Wake me up March 31. I’ll be over there on the couch.
March 16, 2008 at 12:54 am
Wow, the same way the crowd at the game doesn’t know the game and the TV feed is spotty, the Dodgers outfield is playing like they’re not a big-league team.
