The Pecota projected standings are up, and it predictably sees the NL West as basically a dead heat between all four teams. It has the D-Backs and Dodgers are 86 wins, the Padres at 83, and the Rockies at 82. This is the same projection system that has Maddux throwing 100 innings and CY throwing 140, so it’s not like it is overly optimistic on the Padres. It seems to conform to our thinking about the season, where it’ll be a close race that we can win if one or two things break our way (mainly Edmonds, Wolf, or Prior being healthier).

It has the Padres allowing 19 more runs and scoring 41 fewer this year.

Re: 13 I would love to see LeBlanc, Headley, and Antonelli make an impact this year, but at the same time, it looks like this will be a year of the veteran. Giles, Hoffman, Edmonds, and Maddux may be making one final run at a pennant. The youth movement is exciting, if not in the team's immediate plans. I too hope the reconstructed arms can hold up until October, but I wouldn't bet on it either.

Scenario #12 seems more likely than #11

I think I’m higher on LeBlanc than the consensus … I just hope he’ll continue to be solid at AAA in 2008 and can be our #4 or #5 guy in 2009 …

Re: 11 He would have to have an amazing spring to make the team. I have a feeling we will be seeing him after the ASB when 3 or four of the starting pitchers the Pads have are on the DL.

This would be my ideal starting rotation:

1. Peavy
2. Young
3. Wolf
4. LeBlanc
5. Maddux

Prior as insurance.

Does anyone else feel that LeBlanc could be a dark horse this Spring?
