Padre Top 10 list posted at BA today. Do we comment here or over at the Steve Poltz thread?

Well, I'm posting here. I won't break any copyright rules, but I will say this:

1. Very surprised to see Steve Garrison on there at all, let alone ahead of Inman.

2. Can't see how Nick Schmidt makes the list over a healthy player (Huffman, Freese) or over another injured pitcher who has already had success in the minors (Carrillo).

3. BA's concerns with most of the position prospects are defensive. Headley in LF, Antonelli at 2b (no disrespect intended, Jack, just reporting what they wrote), Hunter in CF, Blanks anywhere but 1b.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

I'm not thrilled with the Rule 5 picks. Black already considers Cameron too unreliable or fragile. Hampson went weeks between appearances. Why not promote one of the AAA arms who have plenty of options left, so there's no incentive, however slight, to keep him on the roster when his performance doesn't deserve it?

Callix Crabbe = Cesar Crespo. Yay.

We failed to sign a couple of very talented draft picks for less money than these two guys have cost us today.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

Stats for Gardner and Crabbe.

I saw Crabbe once or twice at High Desert in '04. Beyond his name, he didn't make much of an impression. Ciriaco is no great loss.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

We also got RHP Mike Gardner from the Yankees, he allegedley has a low 90s fastball but doesn't look too exciting to me. We lost Juan Ciriaco to the Giants in the AAA portion.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

#99: Pretty sure Rule V guys can be traded. I know teams can have more than one on the roster -- the Padres kept Donaldo Mendez and Jose Nunez in 2001. Nunez was taken by the Dodgers from the Mets, then waived.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)
