GY, please hold the grilling comments until I get back Stateside. The idea of grilling salmon, outside, in SD, after a Padres win, with a nice bottle of one’s beverage of choice on hand is pure torture after sitting here in the desert for the past 9 months and with 3 still to go.

AA San Antonio probably has 4 or 5 guys that will play in San Diego by 2009. It is so nice to see a player (pitcher) in the Padres system, William Inman, that is only 20 years old and having no problem at the AA level, having a good start each of his first 3 starts in the Padres org. For that matter, Inman, Garrisson and Thatcher all look good in their first two weeks. Headley, Huffman, Antonelli seem to be sure things to get to this level and contribute - Morton (if this guy gets better, watch out !) , Venable (after seeing him play live, I must say I wasn't that impressed with William - he has an awfully long swing for such low power numbers) Josh Geer (same approach as Maddux/Germano) and Le Blanc seem to have a decent chance as well.<p class="top-comments">Current score: <span class="top-comments-karma" id="karma-69200">0</span> <small>(to vote for this comment, please visit the site)</small></p> The future looks bright.
