Personally I wonder whether Marcus is still feeling the effects from his earlier rib injury that he suffered at the end of April. I know he hit well up through the middle of May, but since then it has been all downhill from there. I have a hard believing that he's fallen off a cliff at his age, but maybe the Braves knew what they were doing. His and and Cheo's performances since May at the top of the lineup have been horrid.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

190 ... just noticed I typo'd there ... clearly his name is Batt Mush ...

191 ... I'm getting to the same point re: NOG as you ... I think he just sucks ... he did hit the ball well last night ... but don't be fooled by today's "triple" ... it was a classic bloop that squib'd into the visitor's bullpen ... after that he didn't get the ball out of the infield in his next 2 ABs ... and then he bunted in the 8th ...

And most of Adrian's AB's really look bad ... as do some of Cruz' (ex. today in 7th with runners on 1st & 2nd, wow did he look weak) ...

I don't fully understand the "the lineup doesn't make much difference" argument ... so ... ignoring that ... the lineup I'd field if I were king/manager is this ...

BGiles
LF'er
Cameron
Greene
Barrett
3B
Adrian
NOG
P

... and I'd get Bradley into LF as soon as possible.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

Maybe a slump, maybe tiredness, whatever, but AGon is killing us. His last 65 PA: 102/215/169 for an 385 OPS. Maybe just a bad run, but having that production in your 3 hole for an extended period will kill you. His OPS has dropped from 906 before this slump to 814.

And when you couple in NOG's production during the same stretch: 117/250/317 for an 567 OPS, it is not surprising our offense cannot get too much going when you are generating so little from your 2-3 slots. I don't know where the magic button is to press on these guys, but hope this passes. With AGon, I am pretty convinced it will pass, though some rest (ASB?) may help.

With NOG, he may just suck. OPS in 2005: 826, in 2006: 729 in 2007: 668. So, right now, 2006 is not looking like an aberration, but a trendline. He is young enough that I am perplexed by his decline, but hate seeing it. I hope it passes, but if it does not, we may need to be looking for a 2B as well.

Could be worse, though. We might have Barfield: 619 OPS.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)
