Jacque Jones? He’s signed through ‘08, he’s terrible offensively and there’s no reason I know of to believe he could play CF in Petco. Let’s leave him off the short list.

Milledge is interesting, but I have no idea if he could cover the ground in Petco.

Re CF: I like Ichiro best of all that bunch. Granted he’s not young, and he’s not a RH power bat, but I think he’ll age well (despite speed guys not tending to do so).

It’s just a hunch, of course, that he’ll age well, but he’s been extremely durable thus far and you absolutely must have a plus defender out there in Petco’s CF. Unfortunately I don’t believe Jones will be that guy for the time of his next contract; he’s already started to slow.

I think that Jacque Jones of the Cubs should also be put on the list of potential available CF options.

Crowe is an interesting guy, but I don’t think that he’ll be ready next year, and that’s really what we need. Coco Crisp is an option I think that the Padres will explore–relief help to the BoSox for Crisp or Ellsbury would seem to be a deal that could happen. I’ll bet that they’d like Cla Meredith back… Also, while there is no way that Dukes will be a Padre, I do think that a deal for LAstings Milledge could have some potential. Is he a legit CF?

I just wanted to say thanks to all the participants in the Roundtable. This is becoming one of my favorite Ducksnorts’ features. Nice that all of the Padre Bloggers have the same camraderie as the Pads do in the clubhouse. Who gives the naked hugs, though?

Fukudome for CF. He was/is? being touted as the best position player in Japan, and looking at the transition of those kinds of guys, they’ve all been pretty solid. (shinjo doesnt count. he wasnt good in japan either)

Carlin came in to play second because (Stansberry moved to SS)Ray Chang got hurt after he slugged a double (not sure how how Chang injured himself). BTW, Hensley is not throwing well at all. I hope the Padres rotation can stay healthy because they really don’t have anyone throwing the ball well at AAA. Major kudos to KT for getting Germano in here. This is an example why KT is arguably the best GM in baseball.
