In honor of “King” Felix Hernandez:
God bless the mullet…

Just when I told my computer that Khalil had no chance against someone with a curveball/slider as good as Felix’s, he goes and singles TO THE OPPOSITE FIELD.
Sledge has been a better hitter than McAnulty thus far this year. .219/.329/.361 v. .226/.294/.355. Of course, for both of them the sample size is pretty small, ridiculously so for McAnulty.
Dodgers, Padres have eye on Dye
Posted: Sunday June 10, 2007 09:48AM ET
The Dodgers and Padres, fighting in the tightly contested National League West, could use a slugger. The Dodgers have asked the White Sox about outfielder Jermaine Dye, according to a source familiar with the talks. The Padres are intrigued by Dye as well, particularly because he would bring a right-handed bat to a stadium with a 357-foot alley in left-center
Felix through 3 strikes in the inning, and all three were put in play. That was pretty horrible. Adrian grounded into a double play on the first pitch, NOG grounded out on 2-0.
Now Bard grounds out on 2-0. Hey hitters. This guy is good. You want to make him throw lots of pitches so he doesn’t throw a complete game shutout. That means not making easy outs when you are way ahead in the count.
We really have to start ragging on everyone - B(l)um gets 4 RBIs after being derided in IGD. Now Sledge hits a two-run shot after having his ability questioned….
So I spend my past few posts whining about Padres swinging when they are ahead in the count, and then Cameron homers on a 3-1 pitch, Greene singles on 1-0, and Sledge homers on 1-0.
26: Swinging when you’re ahead in the count is a good thing - you should get a good pitch to hit. Swinging and not making good contact when you’re ahead in the count is not a good thing - which is what it sounds like they were doing.
27: Yeah, it’s a distinction I try to make too, except I’m listening to the radio and following online, so I can’t even see how hard the balls are hit. So it was a little unfair of me.
Weird stat of the game thus far: CY has gotten 9 ground ball outs and 3 fly ball outs.
32: There is no explanation for the walk other than CY just completely lost his control, especially because a walk was just going to inevitably result in Ichiro on second. CY seems to do this about once per game in about the sixth inning, but then usually rallies to finish off another inning or two. Let’s hope that happens today.
Didn’t someone make the comment that Bud rarely yanks his starter if he’s due up the next inning? Might have been LynchMob in his monologue yesterday….
Good to see Buddy not keep Meredith in there for a 2nd inning. Should be good for Cla’s confidence to come in there and get a key strikeout and then be done for the day….
That was quite an impressive sweep by Seattle. Outscoring us by 3 runs over 3 games. Winning today with 0 extra base hits. Scoring the go ahead run on an error, sacrifice bunt, steal of third, and slow ground out.
STORM end up winning last night’s game in bottom of 12th today …
Matt Antonelli doubles (13) on a line drive to center fielder Antoan Richardson.
Craig Cooper singles on a fly ball to left fielder Ben Copeland. Matt Antonelli scores.
ps. I do *not* get how the video relates to King Felix … GY, help?
Man, nothing more frustrating than listening to XX Post game show on the way home. I swear to God, they will give any idiot who promises to bitch and moan air time.
I love that so many people are whining about our offense after this series, when in reality, it was our pitching that let us down. You wanna whine about the hitting, do it when it actually fails us. Our offense put up some runs this series, our pitchers just couldn’t get it done.
The other thing that irks me to no end is that these same buffoons on the radio are now convinced that we’re a terrible team. These are the same people, who 3 games prior, were convinced that we had all the tools and this would be the year. 3 games does not a whole season make. In fact, 1.85% of your season really shouldn’t affect your overall feeling about this team.
It lives!!! Glad to see you’ve resurrected Ducksnorts, Geoff.
After thinking all nite about my Dunn comments, I’m still not sold on the move. I think that it would get a lot of fans to stop griping about our management, but I don’t think that should be the only goal. While I do think Dunn has value to add, I’m not sure he’s the best possible choice. However, our options could be limited, so we might have to go with him as the best available option.
Here’s a question, though. Once Dunn is traded, he can become a FA next year. Would we want to sign him for like a 2 year deal? What could/should we trade to get him?
#72 I totally agree with you there. I think the people that call in are just the type of people who want to complain about things. Unfortunately, XX keeps giving our their call-in number!
I’d call in, but I usually generally agree with what the hosts are saying, and only feel the urge to call in when I have a disagreement.

Padres draft pick Dylan Axelrod on the mound for UC Irvine trying to get one out in the ninth in order to go to the College World Series….
June 10, 2007 at 12:41 pm
Pretty decent looking breaking pitch,, fast ball only in high 80s… WALK! Okay, bases juiced now….2 outs….
June 10, 2007 at 12:43 pm
Ugh! Blown Save. That’s not going to help this kids 4.15 ERA….
June 10, 2007 at 12:48 pm
Great time at the game last night with the IGD crowd. Too bad we lost that one after a great comeback.
June 10, 2007 at 1:04 pm
Why is this guy called ‘King Felix?’ He has a 3-3 record with a 4.40 ERA. That does not deserve the title of King.
June 10, 2007 at 1:05 pm
Maybe he should hook up with that fat-ass Queen Latifa.
June 10, 2007 at 1:09 pm
Good way to start the game! Nothing is more satisfying than getting Ichiro! out.
June 10, 2007 at 1:10 pm
Play goes 6-1 for #2
June 10, 2007 at 1:10 pm
Fellow Ducksnorters, I inquire…
The facial hair on Matty — good look, or no?
REACTION!!!!!
June 10, 2007 at 1:11 pm
#9: No
June 10, 2007 at 1:21 pm
That’s a stat I don’t like hearing. Padres averaging 11Ks a night over the last 4 games.
June 10, 2007 at 1:29 pm
Dodgers down 2!
June 10, 2007 at 1:30 pm
#12: That’s good news.
June 10, 2007 at 1:34 pm
That was a nice shot for Khalil.
June 10, 2007 at 1:34 pm
Just when I told my computer that Khalil had no chance against someone with a curveball/slider as good as Felix’s, he goes and singles TO THE OPPOSITE FIELD.
June 10, 2007 at 1:39 pm
Why isn’t P-MAC getting the start in left today ? Sledge looks terrible at the plate right now.
June 10, 2007 at 1:40 pm
Wonder what Sledge is batting since his torrid .240-.250 start. Got to like his 11 rbi total as well.
June 10, 2007 at 1:44 pm
Sledge has been a better hitter than McAnulty thus far this year. .219/.329/.361 v. .226/.294/.355. Of course, for both of them the sample size is pretty small, ridiculously so for McAnulty.

June 10, 2007 at 1:59 pm
Phew. Out of the inning with only one run across. Now we need to score our own runs.
Jays still leading, but now 3-2.
June 10, 2007 at 2:02 pm
Felix through 3 strikes in the inning, and all three were put in play. That was pretty horrible. Adrian grounded into a double play on the first pitch, NOG grounded out on 2-0.

See, if you’re going to swing while ahead in the count, that’s what you should do.
June 10, 2007 at 2:15 pm
In my face Sledge ! Stick it to me !
June 10, 2007 at 2:15 pm

June 10, 2007 at 2:19 pm
25: I really think that’s how things work.
So you know who really sucks? Chris Young. Guy can’t get anyone out. And only two k’s in 4 innings. Pathetic.
June 10, 2007 at 2:19 pm
If just a few of these hitters got hot at the same time -45 days or so - than the Pads would win 100 games.
June 10, 2007 at 2:26 pm
27: Yeah, it’s a distinction I try to make too, except I’m listening to the radio and following online, so I can’t even see how hard the balls are hit. So it was a little unfair of me.
Weird stat of the game thus far: CY has gotten 9 ground ball outs and 3 fly ball outs.
June 10, 2007 at 2:28 pm
Marcus Giles, you are ridiculous. You are hitting very poorly. You should cease hitting really poorly, and instead start hitting better.
June 10, 2007 at 2:36 pm
Why walk Ichiro, assuming that CY was pitching around the guy? He ain’t gonna get past first with a hit.
June 10, 2007 at 2:37 pm
32: CY is working on his new-found ability to get ground balls and wants to see how many GIDPs he can get….
June 10, 2007 at 2:38 pm
32: There is no explanation for the walk other than CY just completely lost his control, especially because a walk was just going to inevitably result in Ichiro on second. CY seems to do this about once per game in about the sixth inning, but then usually rallies to finish off another inning or two. Let’s hope that happens today.
June 10, 2007 at 2:39 pm
Crap. We had Ichiro! and then NOG threw the ball away.
June 10, 2007 at 2:41 pm
33: If he really wants to maximize this new found ability, he’s got to learn to hold runners better.
June 10, 2007 at 2:42 pm
Some good news coming out of LA. Toronto is up 8-2 on the Dodgers, and apparently it’s a really good thing the Dodgers and not us signed Schmidt.
June 10, 2007 at 2:57 pm
Now would be a good time for a 6-4-3…
June 10, 2007 at 3:01 pm
Didn’t someone make the comment that Bud rarely yanks his starter if he’s due up the next inning? Might have been LynchMob in his monologue yesterday….
June 10, 2007 at 3:01 pm
Crap!
June 10, 2007 at 3:04 pm
Double crap!
June 10, 2007 at 3:05 pm
Looked safe to me.
June 10, 2007 at 3:07 pm
You literally had to slow that last play down frame-by-frame and he got tagged in the frame just before he got the plate.
Either way, it shouldn’t have come to that.
June 10, 2007 at 3:18 pm
Kid for Michigan has a no-hitter going, no outs, top nine. Problem is, score is 0-0… Also, just walked the leadoff batter… ESPN2
June 10, 2007 at 3:20 pm
Good to see Buddy not keep Meredith in there for a 2nd inning. Should be good for Cla’s confidence to come in there and get a key strikeout and then be done for the day….
June 10, 2007 at 3:24 pm
How come B(l)um didn’t pinch hit last inning? It was the perfect opportunity: no one on, seventh inning in a time ball game.
Now he’s still available for the bottom of the ninth with the potential winning run on and two outs…
June 10, 2007 at 3:25 pm
With regards to the Michigan no-no attempt: Two outs, runner on 2nd, still no hits…oh, and 0-2 count…..
June 10, 2007 at 3:26 pm
Hit, runner scores… Oh well…
June 10, 2007 at 3:30 pm
Dmn those first & 2nd ball Padre hitters hitting .339,.339,.544 vs .197,.302,.313 for those on the 3rd pitch or deeper count.
June 10, 2007 at 3:31 pm
Is Gameday lying to me when it says Miguel Batista is now pitching?
June 10, 2007 at 3:33 pm
#50: Yes, Batista is in there as a reliver. Damn Cruz’s hit was smashed into center right.
June 10, 2007 at 3:34 pm
Nope. Apparently their bullpen is depleted.
June 10, 2007 at 3:38 pm
Good work by the 3-4-5 hitters to pop out, strike out, and pop out after the double.
June 10, 2007 at 3:38 pm
Well, like Matty said they still have to travel to Cincinatti tommorow as well.
June 10, 2007 at 3:39 pm
Cleveland.
June 10, 2007 at 3:40 pm
#55: I stand corrected.
June 10, 2007 at 3:41 pm
June 10, 2007 at 3:43 pm
The 1st base coach was out of his box when that ball hit him in the chest. Where was the interference call?
June 10, 2007 at 3:43 pm
I really don’t understand Adrian’s footwork on that one. I guess he’s worried about avoiding a collision on a throw up the line.
June 10, 2007 at 3:48 pm
Congratulations, Seattle, you have managed to score 4 runs on 8 singles. The Padres counter with 3 runs on 2 homers, a double, and 5 singles.
June 10, 2007 at 3:50 pm
Seriously, I’m not comfortable at all with being swept at home by our dreaded rival from the northwest….
June 10, 2007 at 3:53 pm
I don’t mind us losing once in a while, but it really irks me to get swept at home.
June 10, 2007 at 3:53 pm
Ouch.
June 10, 2007 at 3:54 pm
Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. And, Ugh.
June 10, 2007 at 3:55 pm
Oh - I feel much better now that my prediction at 46 didn’t come through….
Bugger - swept at home, by a total of three runs in the last at bat of every game. The bullpen’s no good unless we can score runs.
June 10, 2007 at 3:57 pm
That was quite an impressive sweep by Seattle. Outscoring us by 3 runs over 3 games. Winning today with 0 extra base hits. Scoring the go ahead run on an error, sacrifice bunt, steal of third, and slow ground out.
June 10, 2007 at 4:01 pm
On the bright side, we are now 11-13 in one run games, meaning the team is actually better than its record at this point.
June 10, 2007 at 4:03 pm
I’m just glad we don’t have to see the Mariners and Ichiro! until next year. We always seem to give away games to them.
