195: White Sox have their 3B prospect Josh Fields up already. He’s one of the top prospect that they just wouldn’t part with. I doubt Headley is going there.

I’m looking forward to seeing Headley versus ML pitching.

I wonder how long Kouz will actually be out. I like the idea of letting Headley get some time up here, even if it is a showcase. If he does well he could be part of a deal. With Freese and Antonelli tearing it up in LE and Kouz coming around we have the depth to lose Headley if the deal is right.

“Next question … does he go back to San Antonio” When Kouz comes back, he may go to another team. If I’m not mistaken, we face three lefties over a period of four games, so I may be reading too much into this. But, Headley is our best trading piece out of the minors. This may just be a showcase for KT to prove how good he is and then package him in a deal that brings the big OF bat we so badly need. Remember, the ChiSox just lost their regular 3B for the year…
I love what Headley has done since being drafted, but we have Kouz at 3B now. We my as well trade depth to cover an area of need (been a while since we’ve been able to do that).

Holy Headley, Batman!

I’m not sure of all the mechanics of “start ticking his service clock” … that is the biggest concern … but if he’s just up a week, hey, it’s a reward for a FANTASTIC coupla months at San Antonio … and a looksee for the Padres management … and fans.

Next question … does he go back to San Antonio (”was recently named a Texas League All-Star after leading the league in several offensive categories”) … or Portland? I vote AA … let him be an All-Star …

Next question … he’s got to be added to the 40-man … who gets drop’d from the 40-man? Maybe they have a spot available … I don’t know …

If nothing else, we’re getting a hot hitter. A .460 BA with 4 doubles and 5 HR in the last 35 AB’s is nothing to sneeze at in any league.

I got my wish (41). I have to admit that I’m surprised that they didn’t give time to Branyan/Blum in his absence. That being said, the Cubs have a few lefty starters and this may be a sign that Black is done starting Blum against LHP. In 60 AB’s against LHP this year, Headley ahs an OPS of 1.000. Obviously there is quite a difference between AA LHP and MLB LHP, but I’d rather see him get a shot than 2 weeks of Blum.

I think that best case scenario is that Headley comes up and hits and then is moved into LF when Kouz gets back. If the guy can really hit like his AA numbers suggest…wow. We can relegate Jose Cruz to a defensive replacement.

#188 I don't know, it is still unclear. According to that story Headley will be playing someplace called Wirgley Field.
