Things still feel like they are little out of whack, right? Someone or another is in a slump, some reliever gets rocked a bit, Bud makes some head scratching moves...; yet here we are, the best record in the NL. Maybe this is the way it will be all season (if our winning percentage held up, that would be great), but I keep waiting for all cylinders to kick. Maybe it is equally likely for all the wheels to spin off, so should hope for our continued good fortune, but it would be awesome to see the offense find a groove and have our pitching keep spinning its magic. That would be a very fun stretch to watch.

For all the talk of the abysmal Padre offense, they actually have the 16th best EQA in baseball It’s better than every other NL West team, and it’s 7th in the NL. Branyan leads the team in EQA with .310, right ahead of Adrian’s .308. Germano actually leads the team with his .316 EQA in 10 PA.

These stats were before today’s game.

Player of the game for me = Hampson. Yea, Branyan’s hit was key and the game winner, but to have Hampson come out of the pen and pitch those 3 1/3 (I think that was how long he pitched) solid shutout innings was HUGE. Especially since he’d only pitched 1 or so other innings this month.

(I’m placing all of the blame for the bases loaded GIDP on Pepe Negro, because I can.)

93: A joke I had with GY when Ducksnorts was holding all my comments for moderation. I didn’t want the Internets collecting too much accurate information about me. He finally broke me and now I use a real email address. Now he’s willy-nilly handing out detailed information about the massive metropolitan area I live in.

95: The Commissioner’s Office could choose not to suspend Young. He didn’t deserve an ejection, and it might not have happened in a city that doesn’t pride itself on stupidity like Chicago. The umps didn’t want to deal with a shower of trash all game long.
