Pat, you'll notice if you go looking for the human predictions of the NL, the ESPN staff like the Dodgers significantly better than they like the Padres. Only one of them picked the Pads to win the West. Let's hope the computers win this round.

Nice! A great welcome back from Geoff, P-Mac makes the roster, and AG (or should it be NGG, for Non-Giles G?) signs a long term deal. Life begins anew! LM, great call on Gwynn Jr. making his first MLB appearance at Petco. I'd love to be there for that. I'm thinking long, loud standing O and a very proud Papa on the big screen.

#25: Thanks for this. Two quick comments: 1) I provided the reporter with payroll information for 2001-06, but I don’t have access to this year’s numbers so I’m not sure where those came from — I may have agreed with a number he gave me. 2) Fuson was hired before Alderson.

I’m very disappointed that opening day is not until Tuesday for the Pads. I mean, seriously, what’s up with that? It’s bad enough that there is only one game on tonight. . . . it’s like a tease.
