How do you lose to the freaking Nationals at home with your ace starting and throwing a good game? This offense is so poor right now...sure it has its moments but overall just a combination of bad luck and really bad situational hitting. Yuck.

On the bright side, the Padres dominated this game: 7 more total bases, same number of base runners, 12 K's by their pitchers to 5 for the Nats, and anecdotally many more balls hit hard but right at fielders. To channel Richard, the Padres had a .200 BABIP, with the Nats at .333. Of course, that doesn't actually count for anything, and the game still results in a loss.

Kouz and Robles hit the ball hard. Robles had some nice at-bats tonight. Margin was the run that scored after Peavy forgot there was a runner on first and allowed him to steal second uncontested. Stupid loss.
