Hello, just returned from camping and what do I see...Padres still in it. while the dogs and the yanks are out....wow.

Listen, Padre fan there are sweet moments in San Diego Sports history:
Beating the cubs ingame five on a Garvey HR to eventually make it to the WS
I terriific palyoff run in 84/85 behind stan huphries, who can forget John Carney kickinga FG to win over Maimi to get to the AFC playoffs, and who can forget the Steeler fans silence, as our linebacker batter down a Niel ODonnell pass into the endzone to propel the bolts to the SB. SHow me your lighting bolt!!! Of couse 96, sweeping LA, and 98 behind KB to the world series.
I thing we are at of those SD sports moments agains. If we beat the cards tonight, it will be so sweet. And to win tomorrow, wow.

BTW, word is the cards have made no flight reservations back to sd. Arrogant assholes. If that isn't bullitin board material, what is. Go Padres. Make us proud. Look, if they win, lets rally down at Petco tonight!!! What do you say?
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

I would say that 90% of Padre fans are Charger fans (i just pulled that number out of my A$$).

Regardless its 2 major san diego sporting events in one night, I understand that fox has rights to it and they dont want to inturupt the Philly Dallas game.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

Who hates the NFL? That's impossible...

In all seriousness, I have no problem believing the people who want nothing to do with the football game are in the minority. Wishing I had Picture in picture...
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

Gonna be a wear-out-the-remote kind of evening. Could be a fabulous evening for San Diego sports, really sucks that these 2 events can't be staggered somewhat for the sake of the SD fans.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

Our pal Vinay Kumar has a nice take on Game 3 at Hardball Times. I've got to head out to the office for a few hours this afternoon, but I'll have today's IGD up around 4 p.m. PT.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

I would not want Torre. With that lineup, to not win a championship since 2000? No sale.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

Why would you want Joe Torre? He can't manage a roadside fruit stand.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

ESPN reported that fewer than a dozen fans greeted the Yankees when they came back to NYC. Classy. Also, Torre is about to be fired. If Bochy goes to the Cubs is there any chance we could get Torre? I'd even take A Rod off their hands if they either pay half his salary or we didn't have to give up much value.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

Interesting tidbit from the Washington Post's Dave Shienen, plus another quote to fan the anti-Pujols flames:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/07/AR2006100700577.html

""He's not difficult at all," grumbled Pujols. "He's just a pitcher, like everyone else."

That Pujols would give little or no credit to Young was surprising, because Young manipulated him like few pitchers have.

During the entire regular season, there were only two occasions in which Pujols struck out twice in the same game against the same pitcher, the way he did against Young on Saturday -- once against San Diego's Jake Peavy, and once against Houston's Roy Oswalt, two of the toughest right-handers in the league."
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)
