Who is John Maine, and how did he put up such good numbers this season? He coughed up a few too many homers, but opponents hit just .212/.287/.399 against him; not too shabby.

There have been a lot of reports that Bochy is as good as gone and taking the Cubs job. Does anyone believe that and is that good for the Padres?

I think it’s good for the Padres, but I think you will find the people on this site about evenly split.

Hey, Kevin. I posted a response to your comments on IGD and our previous discussion thread.
Didn’t think Bochy would leave, but I’ve read numerous good reasons as to why he might depart — as much as he loves SD — in the past couple of days. I am a big fan of his, so I am hoping he sticks around. Then again, I felt the same way about Gwynn — that they wouldn’t be “The Padres” without him — and the Pads have fared well since his retirement. (I feel the same way about Jerry Coleman, too, even though I realize his play-by-play may not be superlative. I hope he keeps braodcasting until he’s 120.)
Whether Bochy stays or goes it’ll be a very interesting offseason and 2007 season.

And this Cards-Mets series just might turn out to be pretty decent, too.
