    Former Padre sighting … http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-diamondbacksmoves&prov=ap&type=lgns

The Arizona Diamondbacks purchased the contract of well-traveled right-hander Kevin Jarvis from Triple-A Tucson on Saturday, adding another long reliever to a team with a struggling starting rotation.

… yes, well-traveled … another player I’m glad to not see in a Padres uni … right, Jay?

Ouch … didn’t see any of today’s game … just reading about it …

Albert Pujols didn’t have to hit a home run to help beat the San Diego Padres.

With a glance at catcher Yadier Molina, the slugging first baseman set in motion a pickoff throw that nailed Brian Giles for the final out on Saturday to seal the St. Louis Cardinals’ 4-3 win over the San Diego Padres on Saturday.

“When you get a pickoff like that to end the game, it feels like a walkoff home run,” Molina said.

“This is teamwork,” Pujols said. “That’s why you practice things in spring training, you know, hopefully to help you win some games like today.”

Said Giles: “I could sugarcoat it, but you can’t get picked off in that situation.”

… especially with the way Bard has been swinging the bat … sigh.

    This story … http://padres.scout.com/2/534591.html … says this …

Peavy’s performance Tuesday has an asterisk … He was removed for a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the seventh because he has been complaining of tenderness.

… hmmm, that doesn’t sound good … anyone hear any updates on this???

I just watched that game delayed on Tivo. Arguably the most frustrating loss I have watched. We would wait until two outs, get guys on, then leave them there. The lame steal/missed sign on the Roberts in 8th. Then the pick off, which would have been 2-0 with guys on 1rst and 2nd. Who knows what Bard would have done, but he was probably going to get a fat pitch in there somewhere, given they could not walk him and put the winning run at second.

Hate to waste solid pitching and some solid at bats to create the chances. What a horrid way to go down.

LynchMob, odd as it is, I get fond attachments to Pads pitchers who show brief glimpses of talent, then fade. Jarvis is one of them. Statistically, I am very glad to see him elsewhere. Emotionally, I kind of hope Balsley could do something and then he shines. My current fantasy of this involves Oliver Perez, not Jarvis, though I am guessing after the 2004 season he had the Pirates will never give up on Perez.
