Is Zambrano the second coming of Cy Young or has the Petco Curse returned. We need the witch doctor.

Kerry Robinson’s hitting .320 for the Royals … http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore?gid=260505104 … just a fun fact to help GY celebrate his day! :-)

    After 7 full …

    Pitches-strikes – C Zambrano 107-72; C Park 91-56.

    Ground balls-fly balls – C Zambrano 5-6; C Park 11-6.

    Batters faced – C Zambrano 28; C Park 22.

… it wasn’t obvious to me NOT to PH for Park … I’m not a fan of burning an out when it’s not obvious Park will make it out of the next inning … even with as AWESOME as his results have been tonight (and granted I’m not watching so I have *NO IDEA* how he looks) … I’m just saying that I’ll bet it’s 50/50 that he gets out of the top of the 8th … that was a valuable out he consumed in the bottom of the 7th …

    *OUCH*!!!!

Can somebody explain why the Padres just intentionally walked the *OUT MACHINE* that is Neifi Perez????

I think he was walked to force Dusty to pinch hit. If Chan Ho got Neifi out the inning is over and Zambrano starts the 8th. Plus Neifi has killed Chan Ho in the past. Whatever the reasoning, it worked. And Zambrano is out of the game.

Anthony – I’ll buy that … I s’pose … but it’s dangerous to judge a decision by the outcome … the decision has to stand alone … Bochy chose to face Mabry instead of Perez! It doesn’t seem close …

And now he’s sending Park out to pitch the 9th? Have we no ‘pen?

    Worked again … Chan Ho goes 9! 2 H’s + 4 BB’s … AMAZING! YA HOO!

    Pitches-strikes – C Zambrano 107-72; S Eyre 14-9; C Park 121-69.

    Ground balls-fly balls – C Zambrano 5-6; S Eyre 2-0; C Park 14-9.

    Batters faced – C Zambrano 28; S Eyre 3; C Park 32.

Jonathon … yup, that’s weird … and how about this one (as reported in USA Today today …

RF Jeff Francoeur went to a three-ball count for the first time this season, in the top of the sixth inning Thursday in Philadelphia. He still does not have a walk.

FWIW, as soon as I saw them start to walk Perez I thought it was a good decision. Bringing in a reliever to face Perez would have been the standard thing to do, I thought it was a gutsy call and was surprised Bochy did it. Of course he might not have been thinking about getting Zambrano out of there at all…

    Wow, more May magic?

I must be in a pissy mood tonight … I’m not happy ’bout bringing in Trevor here … he don’t like coming into tie games … but with top of the order coming up for Padres in the bottom of the 10th, I’m hoping the 10th is the last inning!

Checking in to say I liked the decision (and outcome) to IBB Perez to get Zambrano out of the game.

Also wanted to say Happy Birthday to Geoff and to announce a Shane Victorino sighting! Shane is playing for the Phillies. Also, D’Angelo Jimenez is playing for the Rangers. Combine those two with Kerry Robinson and you’ve got Geoff’s favorite players!

A Robert Fick sighting in USA Today today …

1B/C Robert Fick will resume his rehabilitation assignment at Double-A Harrisburg on Friday. Fick, who has been on the disabled list since undergoing right elbow surgery in early March, had his original rehab stint in Harrisburg cut short after experiencing shoulder pain. He’s feeling better now, though, and is expected to spend the remaining 13 days of his assignment in the minors before being activated off the DL.
