That really sucks, because he is such a likeable player, and you had to love the season he was putting together. I apologize to all the fans. This morning, when scanning the “Under the knife” section on BP, I was thinking “Gee, the Pads have been pretty lucky with the injuries.” Yes Cameron and Klesko, but nothing horrid. Then this.

Nice win, but am confused why they did not bring up another pitcher. The only rested relievers are Hoffman and Linebrink; kind of spent the pen in this one (pitches):

Sweeney: 49
Adkins: 38
Cassidy: 36
Embree: 23

So, let’s say CY has a tough game tomorrow (even when he is good, he throws a lot of pitches), how are we going to get to the 9th? Maybe magic May will get CY into the 8th or 9th, but ought you count on that? Is this a basic roster management thing that they just screwed up?

I don’t fully understand the option system, but there must be someone at the AAA level that could be brought up for this road trip without burning too many options. I would have even kept Dewon around; sure he got hit hard by Milwaukee, but he had been decent otherwise since being in the bullpen. If this costs us a game, I think someone should be smacked. Seems needlessly stupid.
