I went to Spring training this weekend and saw both the A's and Brewers Games Klesko Looked horrible in both the field and at the plate against the A's and did nothing to impress against the brewer's, Although I must say I was very impressed at how good he was with the fans. He would interact with the fans as they swarmed him for autographs and he also go up and talk to kids in the stands when he was on deck between innings.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

Here's a note on Klesko from padres.mlb.com ...

Ryan Klesko had an injection for pain in his left shoulder and is expected to miss two or three days, Bochy said.

Guess I'll post mine. I think it went OK. I missed out on a couple of picks I needed, but so it goes. It was weird being the last team to pick because I had to wait and watch everyone else pick, then make my pick, and then turn right around and make the first pick in the next round. I really had to plan two picks out at a time.

1. (12) L. Berkman
2. (13) C. Utley
3. (36) P. Burrell
4. (37) D. Willis

My draft was terrible -- I'm not really paying attention to fantasy this year. Despite that, I had fun doing it, and I was up wayyyyy past my bedtime. I can say with pride that I think I have the most Padres on my roster. Which is probably not a good thing.

Looks like we're in for another year of Klesko being healthy enough to play but not healthy enough to produce. I would expect Gonzalez to be the 1st in line but who knows.

I had a great draft. 1st pick is Pedro with all his assorted maladies, I also manged to get Clemens, who is likely retired, Brian Lawrence and his shredded shoulder and Luis Ayala who needs Tommy John surgery. And no closers either. That's what happens when you don't do your homework.

1. (7) P. Martínez
2. (18) R. Oswalt
3. (31) C. Lee
4. (42) C. Jones
5. (55) R. Clemens
6. (66) D. Davis
7. (79) J. Lieber
8. (90) J. Lane
9. (103) P. Fielder
10. (114) Lu. González

12. (138) B. Howry
13. (151) D. Wheeler
14. (162) A. Everett
15. (175) R. Klesko
16. (186) J. Valentín

So...all things equal, who do you think gets the call first WHEN Klesko can't produce? Adrian Gonzalez, Walter Young, or McAnulty?
Each has their own strength, it's kind of interesting. Gonzalez has the best glove, with Little Mac not far behind. 1B is a traditional power spot, and that's really a strength only for Young, whereas Gonzalez will (we hope) be a more BA hitter and Little Mac being an OB guy. I think Adrian is the favorite, but early production will be key, and ABs will be tough for whoever's sharing a spot.

We'll see!
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

I guess it's a good thing we've got some depth at 1B down @ Portland ...

http://sandiego.padres.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060325&content_id=1362127&vkey=spt2006news&fext=.jsp&c_id=sd

"It's something I have to deal with until I get it fixed at the end of the year," Klesko said on Friday night before the Padres hauled out the heavy lumber against the A's. "It's bone on bone. The AC joint's 65 to 70 percent damaged.

"It crunches and pops every time I move it. When it gets caught, it's going to cause me discomfort. But with the treatments we're doing to keep the inflammation out of the joint, we'll get through it. It feels pretty good right now, knock on wood.

"Hopefully, I can get through the year without any setbacks."

The neck ailment that robbed him of his power in the second half last season is under control, Klesko added.

"The shooting pain in my neck is gone," he said. "It grabbed every time I swung the bat in the second half.
