Movin’ and Shakin’

What would an off-day be without a big roster shakeup?
In: Clay Hensley (from Portland), Mark Loretta (from DL), Phil Nevin (from DL)
Out: Miguel Asencio (DFA), Ben Johnson (to Portland) Dennys Reyes (DFA), Rudy Seanez (to DL)
Hensley is pretty much the anti-Reyes, a right-hander who throws strikes. This year’s numbers (working as a starter):
G IP ERA H/9 HR/9 BB/9 SO/9 15 90.1 2.99 6.28 0.80 2.19 7.07
A few thoughts:
- Thank goodness Loretta is back.
- Nevin’s return means even less playing time for Xavier Nady, if that’s possible. (Note: At least one metric has Nady as the Padre hitter most worthy of an All-Star berth.)
- Interesting, and a little surprising, that Sean Burroughs didn’t get sent to Portland.
- I thought Reyes would be a good addition to the staff. I was horribly wrong.
- How did Pedro Astacio escape unscathed? Maybe he hasn’t been around long enough.
Well, it certainly isn’t boring around here…
